I have no formal training in art and in the early days I was pretty much a leisure artist, grabbing painting time when I could.
Much of my current work is based on my "Hill Sheep" series. These are contemporary paintings which are humorous, quirky and simplistic and which depict sheep in unlikely situations on hillsides. This series started with the intention of producing maybe ten or so paintings, but they proved to be so popular, that I have carried on and continued to develop the theme.
I usually describe myself as a mixed media artist and I love to incorporate texture, collage, stitch and fabric into my work.
Some of my recent work has been totally fabric based and this brings new challenges and ways of working.
I am a member of High Peak Artists and exhibit at the Gallery in the Gardens, Buxton where my work can be seen all year round. I am also a member of Peak District Artisans, and will be exhibiting at the annual Great Dome Art Fair in Buxton during the Buxton Festival.
